Music

You’ll receive a packet of music from me sometime in late April or early May. (I say that, but my wife is actually due with our second child on April 22 — so I might push myself to get these out earlier than in previous years.) The music will all be photocopies; I keep the real copies safe in a library rather than exposed to the elements.

You should expect 12-15 pieces of music. We ask that you come with all notes/rhythms ready to go.

Lots of singers have tried lots of different ways to carry their music. Some do black binders. Others have just put the copies in a gallon ziplock bag. I prefer to bind mine with colored cardstock separating each piece and with a light, plastic cover. This allows me to easily turn pages, find different pieces quickly, and makes it flexible, yet durable when packing. But whatever works for you, works for you.

Choosing rep is something that I live with for a long time. If you have something you think we should sing, please let me know! Send me a text! (512-635-4942) We’ll have a stout ensemble this year at 4-4-4-4.

Ok. When rep is chosen, I’ll use this space to offer a few notes. More soon. - j

People need wild places.  Whether or not we think we do, we do.  We need to be able to taste grace and know again that we desire it.  We need to experience a landscape that is timeless, whose agenda moves at the pace of speciation and glaciers.  To be surrounded by a singing, mating, howling commotion of other species, all of which love their lives as much as we do ours, and none of which could possibly care less about us in our place.  It reminds us that our plans are small and somewhat absurd.        BARBARA KINGSOLVER, Small Wonder
