Weather

Colorado usually has perfect weather in the summertime. Nevertheless, make certain you have enough water and are consistently drinking water as you walk. (Also, you’ll want to make a choice regarding pants vs. shorts. Many hiking pants zip off at the calf offering you the best of both worlds!)

Here’s a great article from REI on Hot Weather Hiking.

Average temperatures in Estes Park for July

  • High: 79F

  • Low: 50F

To disconnect or stay connected?

  • We keep the Vox facebook page active throughout the pilgrimage - so if you want to completely disconnect, your loved ones will be able to follow you without you needing to turn on your phone. However, there are multiple places with wifi access. You can also use apps like TrackMyTour that are built specifically for this kind of experience.

People need wild places.  Whether or not we think we do, we do.  We need to be able to taste grace and know again that we desire it.  We need to experience a landscape that is timeless, whose agenda moves at the pace of speciation and glaciers.  To be surrounded by a singing, mating, howling commotion of other species, all of which love their lives as much as we do ours, and none of which could possibly care less about us in our place.  It reminds us that our plans are small and somewhat absurd.        BARBARA KINGSOLVER, Small Wonder
